REMINDER: Tuesday, 30 August, 1100 CEST / 1000 BST
WHO/Europe will hold an online press briefing on the current monkeypox outbreak and the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, with Dr Hans Henri P. Kluge, WHO Regional Director for Europe, and technical experts.
Speakers will focus on urgent strategies and tools available to control and eliminate monkeypox and what to expect regarding the COVID-19 pandemic – as case numbers escalate in many countries – in the autumn and winter months.
We will also preview the upcoming 72[nd] WHO/Europe Regional Committee (www.who.int/europe/about-us/governance/regional -committee/72nd-session-of-the-who-regional-committee-for-europe) meeting, which takes place in Tel Aviv, Israel, from 12-14 September – the first in-person gathering of Member States from across the European Region since the pandemic began – where these and other priority health issues will be on the agenda.
The press briefing will also be broadcast live on WHO/Europe’s Facebook (www.facebook.com/WHOEurope) page and at our Twitter (https://twitter.com/WHO_Europe) profile.
