A LARGER-THAN-LIFE BACKDROP
Based in Fréjus since 1997 and, at least, until 2027, the Roc d’Azur will once again welcome the participants and their companions in a sublime landscape. All it takes is a quick glance at the events set in the heart of Esterel Côte d’Azur Agglomération, Roquebrune-sur-Argens, the Les Maures Massif and Saint-Raphaël, in the Esterel Massif, to realise that there are few nicer places on the French Riviera to stretch out the summer and load up on vitamin D before the winter.
SOMETHING FOR ALL TASTES, LEVELS, DISCIPLINES AND AGES
The place to be for cycling fans
The event programme contains a number of classics, such as the Roc d’Azur on Sunday, which never fails to attract international cross-country mountain biking stars eager to add their names to the honour roll of the race. In a historic first, it will also have an e-MTB recreational ride counterpart, the Rando d’Azur Électrique, also held on Sunday.
The menu will also feature the mammoth Ford Roc Marathon, weighing in at a length of 102 km and an elevation gain of 2,700 m, the eye-catching Roc Ruelles de Fréjus, a whole spectrum of recreational rides (Rando Estérel, Ekoï Rando Odissey, Alltricks.com Rando noire, Rando déguisée…). Finally, Rando Famille, Kid Roc and Kid Roc Draisienne, will also be waiting for families.
Year by year, gravel grinding has also carved a niche among the top-billed events, with three gravel grinders on tap this season. The Canyon Gravel Roc and Canyon Rando Gravel Estérel will make room for the Canyon Rando Gravel Origins, a new format representing the 40-year history of the Roc d’Azur.
The charting of the Esterel Massif two years ago broadened the range of the event, with the Rando Estérel, ranging from 30 to 70 km, as the highlight.
