Tim Tramnitz returns to Formula E for ABT CUPRA

Tim Tramnitz is returning to Formula E: on 12 April, the German motorsport talent will take part in the rookie test for ABT CUPRA in the run-up to the sixth round of the season in Misano. He will also be one of the two rookies at the test day in Berlin on the Monday after the race (13 May). Tramnitz already tested for the team in 2023 and made a strong impression. He is now a member of the Red Bull Junior Team and competes in Formula 3 as part of Formula 1 weekends. He is part of Motorsport Team Germany and has been a member of the ADAC Sports Foundation squad for seven years.

“I am really looking forward to the ABT team and the Formula E test. The first few hours last year were already a lot of fun – and it’s always cool to sit in a race car,” says Tramnitz, who will complete a free practice session in Misano and a full day of testing in the current race car in Berlin. “I especially like working with the engineers when we look at and analyze all the data, because it’s much more comprehensive than it is for me in Formula 3. I can learn a lot and take a lot with me.”

For ABT CUPRA it was clear that Tramnitz would return to the team at the next opportunity. “The promotion of young talent has always been an important concern for ABT and for me personally,” says Hans-Jürgen Abt. Since this year, the CEO of the ABT Group has also been a member of the board of trustees of the ADAC Sports Foundation and in this role is also committed to the promotion of young talent. The team is looking forward to the commitment of the 19-year-old from Hamburg. “Tim was not only consistently fast at his first test in 2023 and gave our engineers good feedback, but he is also simply a great guy,” says ABT CEO and Team Principal Thomas Biermaier.

Tramnitz got off to a dream start in his new home, the FIA Formula 3 Championship: In the very first main race of the season in Bahrain he made it onto the podium, finishing third. “That was obviously a perfect start – especially because Formula 3 has many new challenges with tyre management, more aerodynamics on the car and DRS.” In addition to the action on the track, the environment is also exciting: “Being part of the Red Bull team is obviously exciting. Sometimes I’m also in the Formula 1 paddock for interviews, so you get to see a lot.”

ABT is also racing in the colours of Red Bull this season: Both the Audi R8 LMS GT3 in the DTM and the Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO2 in the 24-hour classic at the Nürburgring will be sporting the colours of the world market leader for energy drinks

Company profile of ABT Sportsline

As the world’s largest specialist for automotive aftermarket and performance parts for the Audi, VW, Lamborghini, Seat, CUPRA and Skoda brands, the name ABT Sportsline is world-renowned. The product line ranges from more engine power to body kits, over suspensions and interior design, to an extensive collection of alloy wheels. However, the Bavaria-based company, which has its roots in 1896, stands for much more. Today, several attractive subsidiaries with a total of 210 employees join forces under the umbrella of the ABT Group. In doing so, they elegantly combine innovation and tradition. When it comes to drivetrain technology, the German company always has its finger on the pulse of the times: through ABT e-Line GmbH, the areas of electric and alternative mobility are covered as a further strong pillar of the company. And of course ABT Sportsline also stands for top-level motorsport, as it always has. This is demonstrated by the success story in the DTM, which continues right up to the present day, as well as the current involvement in the forward-looking electric racing series Formula E.
