10th World Water Forum: D-3 – The OiEau team on site

Bali, 17 May 2024 A delegation from the International Office for Water (OiEau), an association recognised as being in the public interest, is present to organise and take part in a number of sessions at the 10th World Water Forum, scheduled to run until 25 May 2024 in Bali, Indonesia.

With 4 areas of expertise at OiEau (support and cooperation, training, production of water information systems and coordination of stakeholder networks), our experts will contribute to the debate around the central theme of the 10th edition of the World Water Forum,“Water for Shared Prosperity”. The delegation will coordinate events and dialogues on key issues such as training and skills strengthening, data and information systems, integrated water resource management, etc.

As Permanent Technical Secretariat of the International Network of Basin Organizations (INBO), OiEau will co-organise THE political segment dedicated to basin management, in the presence of political leaders from different regions, to promote dialogue, debate and exchanges of experience in order to achieve greater efficiency and effectiveness of public policies throughout the world.

New publications and initiatives

The 10th World Water Forum will be an opportunity for OiEau to present new publications and advocacy initiatives.

  • A flagship publication: the Handbook on the Transfer of Waste and Plastics in Aquatic Environments, published in four languages (French, English, Spanish, Chinese) to understand and act on this global challenge. Subject to embargo, it will be presented during Session 4C1 – “Together apart: Linking oceans and freshwater policies for a thriving blue economy” on Tuesday 21 May at 10.20am (Nusantara 1) and at the French Pavilion on Thursday 23 May at 2pm (local time).
  • The launch of a campaign: the Bali Coalition to Strengthen Training in the Water Sector, with the aim to promote training as an essential tool for accelerating the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and in particular access to drinking water and sanitation.
