News from the paddock of the Nürburgring 24-hour race

Red Bull Team ABT will start the race from second row
Kelvin van der Linde, Jordan Pepper and Marco Mapelli will start the 24-hour race from position four. After the team had already qualified for the top qualifying session on Friday evening, van der Linde put the Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO2 on the second row of the grid with a strong lap during the top qualifying. As last year, Marco Mapelli will drive the start (Saturday, 1 June, 16.00 CEST).

ABT Motorsport Director Martin Tomczyk: “Fans can expect an exciting race”
“Congratulations to Kelvin for a strong lap in the decisive qualifying session, which gives us an optimal starting position for the race,” says ABT Motorsport Director Martin Tomczyk. “But at least as important is the fact that we have had an absolutely calm race week so far with smooth sessions. Our debriefings have only taken a few minutes each, which is a sure sign that all three drivers feel comfortable in the car and have found a set-up that everyone is happy with. In the final qualifying session, we once again saw how tough the competition is this year, so the fans can definitely look forward to an exciting 24-hour race.”

Kelvin van der Linde explores the Nordschleife from the air
Unusual and spectacular track exploration for Kevin van der Linde: At the invitation of partner Red Bull, the South African got to know the Nordschleife from the air during a helicopter flight. Also on board was a camera team from NITRO and presenter Anna Schröjahr, who will be reporting live from the Nürburgring for 26 hours. All pictures and the interview during the high-speed flight can be seen during the broadcast this weekend.

Red Bull Team ABT merchandise now available at the Ring and online
Already in great demand during the first days: Red Bull Team ABT has its own small merchandising collection for its fans. Available are a cap, a shirt and a hoodie for adults and children as well as a lanyard – all items with the official team logo, pictures of the Lamborghini and in high quality. Kelvin van der Linde, Jordan Pepper and Marco Mapelli tested the items extensively during a photo shoot prior to the race. The collection is available at points of sale around the Ring or online at www.paddock-legends.com.

Tim Tramnitz and Thomas Dreßen as guests of Red Bull and ABT
Two athletes from other disciplines will be supporting Red Bull Team ABT on site this weekend: Ski racer and Kitzbühel winner Thomas Dreßen, who retired in January, will be taking a look behind the scenes of the 24-hour team, as will motorsport youngster Tim Tramnitz from Hamburg. The 19-year-old Formula 3 driver and Red Bull Junior completed the rookie test for the ABT CUPRA Formula E team just three weeks ago.

ABT looks after the CUPRA fleet of official cars at the Nürburgring
In addition to the Lamborghini Huracán GT3 EVO2, ABT will also be looking after the Official Cars at the Nürburgring this weekend, which consist of a total of 14 CUPRA Formentor: five medical cars, four intervention cars, three vehicles for the race management and two cars for the rescue team. All of the models feature the striking design that fans are already familiar with from the DTM safety car and the ABT CUPRA team’s Formula E car.

Company profile of ABT Sportsline

As the world’s largest specialist for automotive aftermarket and performance parts for the Audi, VW, Lamborghini, Seat, CUPRA and Skoda brands, the name ABT Sportsline is world-renowned. The product line ranges from more engine power to body kits, over suspensions and interior design, to an extensive collection of alloy wheels. However, the Bavaria-based company, which has its roots in 1896, stands for much more. Today, several attractive subsidiaries with a total of 210 employees join forces under the umbrella of the ABT Group. In doing so, they elegantly combine innovation and tradition. When it comes to drivetrain technology, the German company always has its finger on the pulse of the times: through ABT e-Line GmbH, the areas of electric and alternative mobility are covered as a further strong pillar of the company. And of course ABT Sportsline also stands for top-level motorsport, as it always has. This is demonstrated by the success story in the DTM, which continues right up to the present day, as well as the current involvement in the forward-looking electric racing series Formula E.
