Nico Müller scores points in chaotic Saturday race
Fans on the track and in front of their televisions witnessed a chaotic and thrilling start to the final weekend of Formula E. While all title decisions were postponed until Sunday, Nico Müller scored more valuable points with a sixth place finish. The Swiss driver had once again entered the duels in qualifying at noon and started the race from sixth place. A puncture after a collision and the necessary pit stop temporarily knocked him out of the points, but he managed to fight his way back into the top ten. Team-mate Lucas di Grassi’s car, which had started from 19th on the grid, also suffered tire damage due to carbon parts lying around. As a result, the Brazilian was once again left with a thankless eleventh place finish. The final race of the season starts on Sunday at 17:00 local time (18:00 CEST).

Emotional farewell for Nico Müller
On Sunday, Nico Müller will contest his last race for ABT CUPRA and leave the team for a new challenge in motorsport. After many years together in the DTM and Formula E the farewell will be an emotional one. One good example of this is a new helmet design for the final weekend: The Swiss driver surprised his team by having the names of all his companions carved into the surface.

Thanks to ZF for the cooperation
The season finale in London also marks the end of the partnership between ZF and ABT in Formula E. The global technology group, headquartered in Friedrichshafen, Germany, was responsible for the development of the powertrain that ABT used as a customer team of Mahindra Racing in the past two seasons and worked closely with the racing team as a technical partner. “Our heartfelt thanks go to ZF Race Engineering Managing Director Sascha Ricanek and his entire team for the excellent cooperation and support on and off the track,” says ABT CEO Thomas Biermaier.

Comeback: Daniel Abt back in a Formula E car
Daniel Abt returned to the Formula E car for a few laps on Saturday. The former ABT Formula E driver tested the current generation of the car for DF1 and Servus TV – the channels are broadcasting the races live in Germany and Austria. Abt competed in 69 Formula E races from 2014 to 2020, scoring two wins and ten podium finishes, as well as the 2017/2018 team championship with Lucas di Grassi.

Lucas di Grassi discusses at Zero Summit
To set the mood for the weekend, Lucas di Grassi discussed the prospects and challenges of a sustainable future with high-profile guests on Thursday. The participants gathered in the auditorium of the Bloomberg headquarters in the heart of London for the new edition of the “Zero Summit”, a series of events founded by di Grassi. The Brazilian was joined on stage by Formula E boss Jeff Dodds, who shared his vision for the electric world championship and its contribution to sustainability.

And what comes next?
After the season is before the season: The teams and drivers will not officially meet again until the joint Formula E tests in Valencia in early November. Three days of testing are planned, as well as numerous photo and film sessions with the drivers and cars. Prior to that, the ABT team will carry out joint tests with future partners Lola and Yamaha in the coming weeks. In the DTM, ABT will continue at the Nürburgring in mid-August.

Company profile of ABT Sportsline

As the world’s largest specialist for automotive aftermarket and performance parts for the Audi, VW, Lamborghini, Seat, CUPRA and Skoda brands, the name ABT Sportsline is world-renowned. The product line ranges from more engine power to body kits, over suspensions and interior design, to an extensive collection of alloy wheels. However, the Bavaria-based company, which has its roots in 1896, stands for much more. Today, several attractive subsidiaries with a total of 210 employees join forces under the umbrella of the ABT Group. In doing so, they elegantly combine innovation and tradition. When it comes to drivetrain technology, the German company always has its finger on the pulse of the times: through ABT e-Line GmbH, the areas of electric and alternative mobility are covered as a further strong pillar of the company. And of course ABT Sportsline also stands for top-level motorsport, as it always has. This is demonstrated by the success story in the DTM, which continues right up to the present day, as well as the current involvement in the forward-looking electric racing series Formula E.
